I bought about 10 ft of spiral wrap and put a few inches of it every 2-3 ft. Works fine and allows me to use two differnt looking cords so I can keep track of which is which.

Is the Voltage out of a Variac a different sine wave or what? ie: how does tha amp know it's a variac.... not 115 volts and 1965? just curious...I hat lugging the Variac around and in fact use that amp less now days because of that...I'll check out Ted's Browner and see what it is....

If you just want to bundle cables together, another option would be to use those velcro cable ties (the ones that you use to wrap up your cables).  Easy to take apart when you're done, or to add more cables to the bundle.

A sig10 alnico sounds divine in my Kzoo Model2. I then tried a sig12 alnico in a more powerful amp and was disappointed by lack of volume and it farting out too early. But I think in a low watter at practice volumes it's great. I like the ceramic version too.

TD that,s the reason I remember as well. Yes caps do have a memory which is why running them up to operating voltage using a variac is recommended to reform them for proper operation. Old caps that have not been in use , NOS off the shelf and even those run at present power levels but not for some time can be off spec till " reformed " . Not suure how far to trust reformed caps but plenty of techs did it for a long time so might not be as iffy as some think it is just more likely to fail possibly than new caps of the same or different type.

I'm thinkin' that the change to the 5u4g might be the way to go as well now that it has been suggested then see what the results are.
Still shoulld be a way to get her right without changing from stock values as long as she sounds right and no harm follows.

Hate to say it 'cause I do like most of his songs , but Neil Young has a much Whineyer voice than James Taylor...... fight25

But it's hard to top Barry Manilow who writes really good songs but should be banned from singing for life in my humble opinion..... brick  OM

You hit the nail on the head with this call, Dr. Bob!  James Taylor's voice is one of the flimsiest, whiniest, do-goodiest, fall-into-a-coma-iest in the last few decades of pop music.  I don't hold it against him, personally - he seems like a very, very nice guy.  Certainly too nice, to apply to the reality I encounter day-to-day.

I'd vote him a prime candidate for a round of pin a pair on the donkey  No Bull !

I can think of a lot of more irritating voices of singer songwriters with Barry Manilow on the top of the list......  Char29
Yes - I agree Billy.  BM tops the list.  I am music, and I write the songs?  Puhleeeeeze
